Terms and Conditions

About us
This website, the-brief.uk, is operated by The Brief Ltd, trading as THE BRIEF (“we”, “us”, “our”).

You can contact us at editor@the-brief.com. Our business address is 1 Road, City, Postcode.

About our products
THE BRIEF provides downloadable digital resources intended to offer practical management and HR guidance. Product descriptions, contents and prices are shown on the relevant product page.

Our resources provide general information and educational guidance only. They do not constitute legal, HR or other professional advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice relating to your particular circumstances.

Employment situations vary. You should consider your organisation's policies, contracts, the circumstances of the individual case and current law, and seek appropriately qualified advice where necessary.

Purchasing digital products
Prices are displayed on the website before purchase.

Once payment has been successfully processed, you will receive access to the digital product in accordance with the delivery information shown at checkout.

You are responsible for providing an accurate email address and ensuring that you are able to access the file format stated on the product page.

Licence and permitted use
When you purchase a THE BRIEF digital product, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own personal or internal business use.

Unless a product expressly states otherwise, you may download, save and print a reasonable number of copies for your own use.

You must not resell, redistribute, reproduce for commercial distribution, publish, upload, share publicly, sublicense or otherwise make the product available to third parties.

Purchase does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property rights in the product.

Copyright
Unless otherwise stated, all content available through THE BRIEF, including guides, templates, worksheets, written content, branding and design, is owned by or licensed to THE BRIEF and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Digital content and cancellation
Our products are digital content supplied electronically.

Where you are purchasing as a consumer and ask us to provide digital content immediately, you will be asked to expressly consent to supply beginning before the end of the statutory cancellation period and to acknowledge that you will lose your statutory right to cancel once supply of the digital content begins.

This does not affect any statutory rights you may have where digital content is faulty, misdescribed or otherwise does not conform to the contract.

Refunds
Because our products are digital downloads, we do not generally offer refunds simply because you change your mind after the download has begun where you have expressly consented to immediate supply and acknowledged the loss of your cancellation right.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer law.

If you experience a technical problem accessing a product, or believe a product is faulty or materially different from its description, contact us at editor@the-brief.com.

Updates
Employment law, HR practice and guidance change over time. We may update our products from time to time, but purchase of a product does not entitle you to future editions or updates unless we expressly state otherwise.

You are responsible for checking that information remains appropriate and current before relying upon it.

Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

To the extent permitted by law, THE BRIEF is not responsible for decisions made solely in reliance on general information contained in our products. Our materials are designed to support management decision-making and do not replace advice based on the particular facts of an employment situation.

Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you will also retain any mandatory protections available to you under the laws applicable to you.

Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version applying to your purchase will be the version in force when you place your order.
